After quitting school in the 9th grade, Eric Groome went to work hanging drywall for his father’s construction business. In 2004, he started night GED® classes in Louisa County. After he received his GED® test credential, Eric pursued his dream of becoming a fireman by taking firefighter and EMT classes. He now works full time for Louisa County Fire and EMS. He plans to enroll in the fire science bachelor’s degree program at Piedmont Virginia Community College. Eric said, "Getting my GED has helped me do what I like, which is helping people in need."
